FAQ
What to know before your tandem flight, and what you always wanted to know about paragliding – all the answers.
The Königssee panorama flight costs €159, the thermal flight €199 and the premium flight €239 per person – each plus the ride up on the Jennerbahn cable car. Pupils, students and apprentices up to 28 pay less: €145, €179 and €215 respectively. Every flight is also available as a voucher. All flights and prices
The total time includes meeting up, the cable car ride, the briefing and take-off.
We meet at the landing field by Pension Kohlhiasl in Schönau am Königssee (Oberschönauer Straße 44). From there we drive the roughly 3 km to the Jennerbahn together and ride up to the launch site on the Jenner in about 20 minutes. For morning flights we usually meet at the Jennerbahn, right at the valley station (Jennerbahnstraße 18). As a rule, we land where we met.
No. At the launch site your pilot gives you a briefing and your gear, and the pilot flies the wing. You only need to be able to take a few steps downhill until the wing carries you.
All our pilots are DHV-certified tandem paragliding pilots, and each has the required passenger liability insurance. We check the weather several times a day – above all wind strength and direction decide whether we can take off safely.
The absolute number of accidents has risen in recent years because more people have taken up the sport. At the same time, according to DHV statistics, the relative accident rate has fallen.
We check the weather before every flight and get in touch with you. If the wind is too strong, we cannot take off; clouds alone do not affect safety. Please rely on our judgement – we have years of experience with the weather on the Jenner.
Yes, a photo & video service is available for every flight. Just let us know when you book.
Yes, all tandem flights can also be booked for groups of two or three – so you can share the experience with your loved ones. For larger groups and companies, just get in touch.
The easiest way is our booking calendar. For short notice, call +49 176 3018 1044 or message us on WhatsApp – with a bit of luck we can fly the same day.
Yes, every flight is available as a voucher – on high-quality recycled card by post or, if it has to be quick, as a PDF to print. Vouchers are valid until the end of the year plus three years.
We meet at Pension Kohlhiasl. That is also our landing field, so after the flight we arrive back there. Please allow for the fact that, depending on the weather, we cannot plan to the exact minute.
Please keep the guesthouse’s parking spaces free and park on the side facing the road.
The address is:

The higher we are, the colder it gets. Bring a jacket in any case, wear a jumper underneath, and wear sturdy shoes and long trousers. For thermal flights, especially in spring, gloves are recommended too.
From November to June you should dress more warmly. We recommend three long-sleeved layers and long underwear. Windproof clothing is ideal.
In the warmer months, a windproof jacket as a second layer is enough for most people.
As a rule: the less the better. Ideally you have nothing with you except your warm clothes and your valuables.
You can call us spontaneously at any time. With a bit of luck we can fit you in for a tandem flight today.
Our guests’ cover matters most to us. On all tandem flights our passengers are insured through their pilot. Each of our tandem pilots has the required passenger liability insurance.
There is no age limit for our guests. For passengers under 18, however, we need a consent form signed by a parent or guardian. You can download the form here: Download the consent form (German)
We have taken people with a fear of heights into the air before. Since we move in open airspace with no sense of standing at an edge, a fear of heights plays no big role in paragliding.
Of course we talk during the paragliding flight. If anything feels uncomfortable, you can tell your pilot at any time.
As local pilots, we are happy to point out the surroundings and all the mountains in view along the way.
Vouchers are subject to the general limitation period of three years, which for us only starts at the end of the year. Vouchers are therefore valid until the end of the year plus three years.
After that, any price difference due to price changes has to be paid.
Vouchers of course take priority over spontaneous requests. To make sure everything runs smoothly, please let us know about two weeks before you want to redeem your voucher.
Just fill in the form on our website: Redeem a voucher

No, we do not work with Jochen Schweizer.
On request we can give you the contact of the local partner. If you would like to book an extra flight with one of our pilots at short notice, you are welcome to contact us.
Unfortunately, paragliding flights via Jochen Schweizer are currently no longer offered in Berchtesgaden.
The myth of nasty air pockets is stubborn. When flying through turbulence we may get a feeling like an elevator starting to move. That’s it 🙂
Skydivers jump out of a plane high up; it is mainly about free fall.
Our paragliding launch site is a steep meadow that we run down. That is why we do a tandem flight with you – not a tandem jump ;).
Paragliding and “Gleitschirmfliegen” are the same thing. In Austria, “Paragleiten” is often used for paragliding and “Paragleiter” for the wing – quite similar to the Italian parapendio, roughly “wing for the slope”. Paragliding is the English term.
Paraglider pilots are sometimes also called “Fetzen-Flieger” (rag flyers). The term dates from the times when hang gliding was far more widespread than paragliding, and few people could imagine flying on such a “rag”…
Most importantly: please rely on what we tell you. We check the weather several times a day and have years of experience.
Above all, wind strength and direction affect safety in paragliding. If the wind is too strong, we cannot take off. If it is too weak, take-off is harder, but you can still fly safely. Clouds do not affect safety.
Of course! We can recommend Camping Allweglehen, Pension Kohlhiasl and holiday flats. Have a look at our partners.
A canyoning tour through the gorges of our water-rich region is highly recommended. A rafting trip on one of our mountain rivers is another great option. Have a look at our partners.
